Windows Vista Slow

There are number of reason why windows vista slows. Here are the few important point for vista slow working.

1) Vista runs slow because of registry error or other system errors. In most of the cases say 90 % time it is because of registry error windows vista work vary slow. Performance of windows vista depends on registry. As less registry problem you will get more speed. More registry error it means vista runs vary slowly.

2) virus issue. Try some good anti virus(Free Download spyware doctor and Nortran security scan). perform full vista system scan.

Some other Checklist for why windows Vista slow performance :-

1. Machine meets minimum hardware requirements
2. Clean Installation of windows vista instead of upgrade (Avoid upgrade)
3. Latest Drivers for hardware - Try DriverQuery, or check manufacturer site.
4. Sleep and Hibernation

1) system must have minimum hardware configuration
CPU - 1.7 GHz, RAM - 1 GB, Graphics card - 128 MB (256 best) andDisk - 80 GB

2) clean installation instead of upgrade from XP

If It require to upgrade, then first install the Vista Upgrade Advisor and then follow every instruction given by upgrade advisor. Otherwise your upgrade to windows Vista will result in vista slow perfomance.

3) install latest drivers for your hardware
Got to command prompt and check the version of drivers
Type following command:
DriverQuery /?
DriverQuery /v
DriverQuery /v /fo list
DriverQuery /v /fo csv > driverq.txt
Search latest driver from manufacturer's site.

4)Vista Firewall

If you have network connectivity and issue from Vista to the other computer or server.
Instructions to Turn Windows Firewall Off Click on:
Click on Start - setting -Control Panel
• Network Connections
• Network and Sharing Center
• Windows Firewall
• Turn Windows Firewall on or off (Left Panel)
Disabling firewall is a temporary solution.
Sleep and Hibernation
vista work slow when emerged from either sleep or hibernation.

Try some simple check list That tells you why Windows Vista Runs Slowly.
Check the Task Manager (Press Ctrl +Shift +Esc), Processes Tab. Anything suspicious?

If virus checker is active all the time then it may slow down computer.

If you are running with less than six (6) gigs of RAM, with Vista, you are on the edge of its performace minimum.

I purchased a "bundle" advertised by Best Buy that included VISA already on the computer. My first que that I may be at the minimum of RAM was the surprised expressed by one of the "knowledgeable" members of the Geek Squad wondering aloud why my new GATEWAY had VISTA installed but only had Four (4) gigs of RAM when six (6) gigs was recommended to be contented with VISTA SP 2.

He said VISA takes up one (1) gig all by itself leaving me with just three (3) to work with and VISTA was build with heavy graphics use in mind.

He was right. Although I keep my start-up and background programs to a minimum and do regular disk clean-up and defrags, when I run a RAM intensive program like Google's Picasa for photo touch up, I get a "Memory Use High" notice from Norton, as though I didn't already know that by the s l o w system response.

Since I am already doing everything possible to minimize RAM usage including the use of a four (4) GIG flash memory stick recommended under the "Speed Up My Computer" application, the answer to my particular SLOW COMPUTER complaint is to add an additional four (4) gigs of RAM.

FYI. One of the "slower" members of Best Buy's Geek Squad said. "Unless the flash stick speed is as fast or faster than the CPU speed, he didn't see how the "Speed Up My Computer" suggestion does any good.

He needs to go back and make up the day he missed at Geek School because the flash stick is used by RAM as a place to "stash" RAM functions that are necessary but not very frequently used. So when RAM notes that an infrequently used but necessary function is taking up space that is often used by more frequently executed functions, it stuffs the infrequently used functions on the flash stick keeping them available for when they are necessary to execute a particular function, yet freeing up space for those functions that are in high demand by the current running program.

Bottom line, use the "Speed Up My Computer" suggestion, put in a four (4) or even (8) gig flash stick into one of the USB slots and follow the instructions under the "Speed Up My Computer" application that tells you how to make it work with RAM when using VISTA SP 2.
